Read all about it, The Stork Is Coming!

Our pretty little Ruby is indeed expecting puppies around November 24th.  Stay with us as we follow her stork story,

 AND

so is SHELBY!  Shelby is also expecting, with a due days just 10 later than Ruby.  Her pups are due around December 4th.  Both litters are sired by our one and only Sam The Man Tequila Sunrise.

The girls are looking quite adorable.  Their tummies are starting to get big, especially Ruby's, but they're not too big that they're in the way of their normal behavior.  Both Ruby and Shelby are still playing and running the yard like nothing has changed, except of course, their appetite.  Their appetite has gotten enormous!  Ruby gave us a little scare early on because she stopped eating, but now she can't get enough and more than making up for her slow start.  Shelby is ready to eat anytime, anywhere, and everything....

All and all, both girls are doing great and I don't anticipate any problems.

.......Lets keep our fingers crossed.......

November 3, 2009

Ruby has about three weeks until her due date.

Shelby is about a month away from her due date.

Lets compare tummies
Ruby and Shelby are both doing great.  The girls are ten days apart, but you would never know it.  Shelby seems to have a bigger tummy then Ruby.  I'm predicting both girls will have 6 pups.

Both girls are needing a little Mama Terry time.

Ruby and Sammy's babies are due in less than two short weeks.  Ruby is feeling fine and not having any difficulties.  She's eating well and her puppies are growing by the day.  Her milk has not come in yet, but I can definitely feel the little movements of her puppies when I hold the palm of my hand on her stomach.  She's becoming very needy now and definitely wants all my attention.

Shelby and Sammy's pups are due in a little more than 3 weeks.  Shelby's tummy is really starting to pop.  She's carrying her pups very different then Ruby.  Shelby is getting wide, while Ruby is carrying low.  Shelby is also doing great.  A very large appetite but it's still too early to feel her puppies moving.

Sammy, being the old pro he is, is giving the girls a lot of attention.  He walks the kennel yard most of the time following one or the other.  This may be Sam's last litter, as he is up for adoption.  There have been several people interested in him, but none that I felt was a good fit.  All and all he's done a wonderful job for us here at NJ Beagles, and he has definitely left his mark in the hearts of a lot of happy families.

WE LOVE YOU SAMBO

What a difference a day makes.  Ruby's milk has come in.  She's all set and waiting for the arrival of her new puppies.  All the pups have to do now is grow.  I will tell you that I do not think Ruby is going to make it to her due date of the 24th.  I wouldn't be surprised if Ruby had her puppies within the next five days.   Starting tomorrow we'll begin taking her temperature and I think I'll start the camera rolling so I can keep a closer eye on her from the house.   Stay closer to your computer than usual if you want to know what's happening.

Nothing new to report about Shelby.  She's hanging in there and doing great.  Here she is out in the kennel yard doing her favorite thing.... Eating dirt!

11/16/09

The girls are out for their morning stroll in the yard.  No sign that the stork is on the way for Ruby yet, but she is starting to   s l o w   way down.  These days she'd rather sit then stroll.  She's getting so big that she has trouble scratching her ears, but hopefully it will all be over soon.  Shelby is doing great.  Her tummy is really starting to blossom and she still has a good amount of energy.

All and all I'm very pleased with their progress.

Well, Ruby is spending more time resting these days.  Certainly something she should be doing.  She is really getting huge and I think she has dropped.  She's all ready to go.  The puppies are ready to be born.  They're just growing with every new day.  Her temperature is low, but I think that may be normal for her.  I've been taking her temp everyday and it's either 99 or 98 degrees.  For any other dog that would mean labor is on the way, but for Ruby it's not happening.

Shelby looks small compared to Ruby these days, but she's doing nicely.  Nothing new to report about Shelby at this time.

Congratulations to Ruby and Sammy on a beautiful family.  Ruby delivered 11 beautiful puppies in just 6 hours time.  Five days short of her delivery date.  The 7 females and 4 males are simply gorgeous!!!!
GREAT JOB RUBY.  YOU'RE THE BEST!

11/20/09

Ruby and her pups are getting some much deserved rest.  Just 24 hours old, the pups are doing very well.  A few little pups to watch closely, but they're coming along nicely.  Click here to watch a video taken of the puppies this morning during feeding time.

11/24/09

The pups are just five days old and boy are they all doing great.  Ruby is the best mother ever.  She's keeping 11 puppies fed and clean.  Not an easy thing to do when you have less nipples then you do puppies.  The pups are gaining weight daily.  There's not much more a breeder can ask for.

11/29/09

Ruby's puppies are now 10 days old.  All 11 puppies are doing great!  Even the smallest puppy is gaining more than an ounce a day, tiping the scales at 13 ounces.  Her biggest pup weighing 1.2 pounds.  Their eyes and ears are not open yet, but hopefully within the next few days we'll see that happen.  Right now all they're doing is eating and sleeping.

Ruby's pups may be sleeping now, but don't let that fool you.  These little guys are up on their feet walking and playing.  Their eyes and ears are open now, and the pups are getting bigger and stronger everyday.

Ruby's kids are eating their first meal, and enjoying every second of it.

12/20/09

Ruby is just taking a little break with her pups.

Shelby is doing fine.  She's 10 days away from her due date.  She's not carrying very big, so I really don't expect her to have more than five or six puppies.  I'm very pleased with the way her pregnancy is going.

11/29/06

Congratulations to Shelby and Sammy on the birth of their four little boys.  Shelby went into labor 5 days early and surprised us with her all male litter.  Sadly, the first puppy, a lemon and white male, didn't make it, but the rest of her family is doing well.

CONGRATS Shelby and Sammy

Shelby's pups are 8 days younger than Ruby's, but weigh about 1/2 pound more.  Only three pups means they have plenty of milk to share with just a few.  Unlike Ruby's 11 pups, there's no fighting to find a nipple in this litter, so the pups are growing much faster.

12/16/2009

Shelby's babies might be a lot bigger than Ruby's, but as far as maturity goes, they're still 8 days younger.  Their eyes have just opened and their little teeth are just about to break through their gums.
