Hi Terry, The last time we spoke, I told you I was still trying to convince my wife we needed another beagle. I was successful and we adopted Bailey a 1-2 year old tri color. While he will never replace our beloved Murphy he has done much to relieve our grief and has brought us a lot of happiness already. He is very very well behaved and gets along well with my daughters 2 beagles. Of course my wife has him spoiled already and loves him as much as I do. I cannot understand how anyone could let this little guy go. We look forward to your next beaglefest to show him off and enjoy all the other little guys.Once again, thanks for the time you spent with me that Saturday AM and allowing us to attend your Beaglefest this spring. It went a long way in helping me with my quest--another beagle! Hope to see you in the fall.

Great news Gordon. I'm so happy for you and your wife and especially Bailey, as I'm sure he is one lucky little guy to be in such a loving home as yours.... We're hoping to have our next beagle meet the Sunday after Labor Day, September 12th. Keep checking my "Beagle Meet" page on my website for a confirmation. Terry

To all the wonderful Beagles in the world. may they all howel together on this day. I just lost my beloved Cleo today. My little girl. I will love you always Forever in my heart my dear sweet friend

Dear Ellie, I'm so sorry to hear that your sweet Cleo has passed. I'm not sure if this is going to help you or not, but as your beautiful girl was entering the Rainbow Bridge, six new perfect little lives were entering this world. My Stella gave birth to 6 precious puppies on July 16th. I know what a happy, wonderful day that was for me. I'm sorry your day was filled with so much sorrow.

Please think about honoring Cleo's memory via my virtual pet cemetery.... It really does help with the healing process, and it's a special place to go to when you need to feel close to your girl.

I will going away for a month this summer, and would like to put my 2 y.o. female beagle,"Roxy", in a begle kennel that has a starting pen. Although she's started already, she definetly needs a lot more attention, that unfortunatley I can't provide at this time, with a 8 y.o. boy and 6 y.o girl and 6 month old twins (boy and girl) that take up all of my free time. Last year I only got to go hunting 3 times. Can you reccomend someone within a 2 hour drive from NYC? Thank you for any help.

Sorry Gius Eppe, I really don't know of anyone within 2 hours of NY City. I know of someone who may be able to help you, but they're five hours away. Sorry, Terry Stern

Our 1st beagle Mariah, who was adopted from the West Milford Shelter in 2002, lost her fight with cancer in 10/08. We were devastated & heartbroken. Our house was too empty & quiet and within 1 month we found Faith from SOS Beagles that you noted on your website. She's a perfect addition. She loves other dogs but is sometimes overwhelmed by the "big boys" in our neighborhood (Shepherds, Labs, etc).

Could we join your beaglefest next week in Princeton? I would love to see her with others her size! Please let us know at please contact me at: joratz@aol.com. If anyone lives in or near West Milford and has a friendly beagle who wants to play in a large fenced in yard...email me!

JOAnn,
We'd love to have you join our beagle meet. I already sent you our mailer. Terry

I have a beautiful girl beagle, Ally. She is 11 years old and the love of our life. Six months ago, a bird's nest (empty, although we did know it at the time) fell on the ground in our yard. Before I knew what happened, Ally ate the nest. Over the course of the next 5 weeks, she developed a bacterial infection which required weeks of medical attention. Ally healed from the infection; but we now have a side effect. She vomits. Many times it is clear/yellowy fluid. Ally had every tests possible a vet could offer. Enzyme levels were normal; liver, spleen clear. Heart/lungs fine. She has not lost any weight. I changed her food to Senior Science Diet. I now feed her 5 small meals a day. I read sometimes beagles have acid reflux and to eliminate the problem it's recommended they be fed more often; smaller portions. Can someone give me their input if they have experienced a similiar situation wit their beagle. Ally has a vet appointment next week. She is still very playful, happy, continues to love her home and all her usual habits. We do not feed Ally table food. I am at a loss and could use some help. Thank you so much.

Rosemary,
How horrible. I really have no answers for you. My best advice for you would be to join our discussion forum and post your question there. Perhaps someone there may have some valuable advice for you. They always seem to have some good ideas. It's certainly worth a try. Good luck to you and Ally. Terry

What happened to Stork Stories? We visit your site all the time and enjoy so many different aspects but realized one is missing. Hope we can follow a future litter's arrival. Take care.

Just changing things up to make room for new pages jen.... We've added the beagle alumni page now. Our site can only hold so many pages so somethings got to give for new ideas. Since we've been broadcasting our puppies live on the internet, it's kind of taken the place of the stork stories page. If you want that link, email me and I'll send it to you.

My mother had a toy Pom before she had me. After him my father wanted a "man's" dog so we had Butch,a wonderful Doberman. Then Eric, another Dobie, followd by Buster, and 12 years later Sabastian 2 great Beagles. Our 3rd Beagle,Murphy, was the geatest of all. Murphy had to be put down 2 weeks ago as we did not want him to suffer any longer. He was a real trooper, geatly loved by all.I miss him so much!My wife who did so much the 11+ years we had Murphy does not want another dog. I think the only thing that will get me over my grief is another Beagle pup.Reading your website and looking at your beautiful dogs has made me feel a little better but brings tears to my eyes. Hopefully I can prevail upon her to change her mind.If I am successful, I would like to visit your kennels. If I am not, I may still visit if only to window shop if that would be ok with you.

Absolutely Gordon. I loved to meet you and introduce you to the clan. I'm sorry for the loss of your beautiful beagle. Terry

We adopted a Beagle from the Human Society in Middletown, NY and they advised us the age was about 1 to 1 1/2 years old at time of adoption on September 12, 2009. I was next in line to get my dog license in West Milford and when it was my turn I had just mentioned that the lady before me had alot of dogs and she responded that they were beagles and I asked if she would give me the website for the beagles because I was getting a license for my beagle. (she did) We would be very interested in coming to see the beagles and if possible you could give us a little more info. on our beagle.. My daughter would be willing to help you at your facility with the beagles to learn more and play with them. thank you in advance for your response.

My fiance and I are looking at getting a beagle. He has had a few as he likes to hunt with dogs. The beagle we are looking at getting is from AKC parents. However she has one blue eye and one brown eye, all the other pups from the litter have two brown eyes. Is this a defect? Thanks for your help! This is a great website.

Hi Kara, I'm glad you're enjoying our site. If it's a young pup, there's still plenty of time for her eyes to change colors. I do not believe it's a defect, but you're better off calling your vet and getting his opinion. Thanks, Terry

Dear Terry, I just adpoted a 2yr old beagle about 4dys ago. I know nothing about this breed. I have been learning a little online. He's great with my 2 kids until tonight when the reached to grab his bone. He growled and then my husband went to take it away from him he snapped at him. Although he didn't bite him. I'm just wondering what we can do to help him learn not to be aggressive with his food. When my 8 yr old went to lay down beside him he growled. Only if he has his bone he's chewing on. Please help! He's great other than this. Is there hope?

Ambrosiao, I'm taking your message and pasting it in our discussion forum where there are many people there who may have had the same experiences and could possibly help with advice.

You can cut and paste this link http://newjerseybeagles.greatrix.com/index.php?showtopic=1035 to get to your topic, or you can click on my "Beagle Discussion Forum" button to the left of this screen to get to our forum. Once there, your topic is posted under "Bone Agression."

I hope you join us there. I will tell you there is hope, but the first thing you need to do is make his bones disappear.... There are other things to do too. PLease join us at our discussion and we'll talk about it.

Thanks, Terry

Loved looking at your site Terri. I lost my tricolored Beagle Abby at 14 years Christmas 2000 and moved to NJ that same year. My husband and I are just now starting to consider getting another Beagle and would like to someday soon get a Beagle puppy. I am so glad to have found a great breeder as yourself living within northern NJ where we live. My husband particularly likes the lemon coloring of "Jake" so maybe we will be proud owners of a lemon white colored puppy soon. We will be in touch.

I am a veterinary technician and absolutely love beagles. They are a royal and beautiful breed, that unfortunately are too often bought by those interested in a cute puppy and not the breed. As beagle owners we all know that they are a loving but vocal dogs, with probably the best nose of any animal and they just can not ignore a scent. Which upon finding they bellow endlessly. For many people who purchase these dogs unknowingly this among other characteristics of the breed are too much to handle, leading to many beagles being surrendered. I would like to encourage all beagle lovers to look into adopting these animals before purchasing a pup. I feel all of these great animals deserve great home, and my adopted beagle Cooper agrees... after all it is not their fault that they were bred to track game and alert their master when on a trail... that is just there job.

Thanks for posting Danny. Terry

I'm very sorry to hear about the loss of your dog. I understand it's a very difficult time right now. I don't have any puppy's available at this time, but I would like to advice you by saying, take a little time before you rush into another dog. Dear Terry,

Our family found your web site today and we were so happy. We just lost are beagle Cookie on friday from congenital heart disease. Our family is so heart broken. We took her to the University of Penn to get the best help we could but they told us she had less then a year to live. Cookie only lasted a few weeks. We were looking at your virtual pet cemetery when we saw a dog named Harley. The owners wrote such a wonderful poem about there dog. This just brought us to tears. We feel the same way with our dog Cookie. We had ten wonderful years with her. We put your web site in our favorites so we will be looking in often. Thank you for such a great site.

Dear Lori,

You have the most beautiful beagles! It's obvious you are a caring and responsible breeder who absolutely loves the breed -- I'll be sending an application shortly.

I look forward to hearing from you Lisa. Thanks, Terry

When is the next NYC beagle meet? Barney the beagle is a 21 month looking for new adventures.

Bob, I really don't know, but if you log on to our discussion forum, there are plenty of NY beaglers posting there and are already willing to meet up.

Thanks, Terry

I found your website today and thoroughly enjoyed looking at all of the photos, esp. the Beautiful Old Beagles. We have had 3 beagles over 27 years. Our last one, Bonnie, died in July. Our house is too quiet now. We like being dog-centric, so I am sure we will be beaglers again. I can’t imagine life without a beagle!

Joan

Joan, I'm terribly sorry to hear about the loss of your beagle Bonnie. I know how quiet a home can be without the familiar daily sounds of our beloved beagle.

Hi
I am interested in purchasing one of your beagle puppies. I live in Barnegat N.J.and i was wondering if you are anywhere near me. My grandaughter sent me this site. she is ten years old and has wanted a beagle puppy for a long time. I want to give her this puppy. Please let me know the details. She is a bright loving caring kind child and I know she will take care of this puppy with the help of her parents, and six year old brother. Look forward to hearing from you. Thankyou Rose

Rose, please call or e-mail and I'll give you more info... Thanks, Terry

We are interesed in beagles as my husband grew up with one. We started looking online when a delivery customer suggested to us going the route of a breeder for a dog rather than a pet store for price. *Not to mention the only pet store we were able to find beagles in something didnt feel right.* I found your website and a few others. Their sites are no where near as loving and caring and honest or helpful as yours. Right now we are in the researching phase of dog buying. To keep my rambling short I just wanted to say that your website has been very helpful for us in making decisions. Thank you. And beautiful doggies. They look so happy!

Thank you Howard, Shawna, Tara, Lizzie, and Jarrod... Good luck in your search for your puppy. Terry

I came across your site and found it a joy to browse through. The photo gallery is filled with adorable pictures! I was wondering who Harley belonged to? I think you have done an outstanding job here. :)

Thank you Misletoe... I really don't know who Harley belongs to. Some of those photos are sent in from people all over the world.

I'm glad you enjoyed our site. Terry

Hello,
I love your website and how you describe your beagles. I'm looking for a beagle puppy. I have a Beagle/Jack Russell who was a rescue and I want to find him a friend. My other dog (Jack Russell) was just put to sleep. Do you have any litters planned the rest of the year?
Thank you for your time.

Hi Nina, I'm very sorry for your loss. As far as our planned litters, I'm really not sure yet, but please feel free to call us for more information. Terry

Terry, your site is very informative and a great read. I am wanting to start a Beagle rescue of my own in Alberta, Canada, but am finding it very difficult to get some info and first hand knowledge on the subject. If you have the time I could really use the help. Thanx in advance, Chris.

Hey, from what I've read, your a great breeder. Keep up the good work.
Thank You also, for caring. I am a student doing a report on Puppy Mills and I think its great you interview families before you send your puppies to them. Not everyone is as caring as you are.
If only every breeder could do what your doing.

Anony,
Thanks for the compliment. Good luck with your report on puppy mills. I'd love to read it when you're done if you care to e-mail it to me.

Thank You Terry. It was through great sadness that I found your site and I just want to say thank you for the information, and thank you for the opportunity to preserve and share some memories of our girl. Although we know nothing can replace her, that does not mean that we cannot ease our pain through the joy and enlightment of a new family member. Beagles are the best dogs ever (even if the did eat my good shoes once; have accidents on the floor; cried throughout the night as pups, hogged the couch, and secretly plotted with the cats to raid the counters!) God Bless!

You're very welcome Catherine.... Terry

Hi Terry, We just found your site and love it! We are VERY interested in one of your beagle puppies, but have a 12 year old labrador who is happy getting all the attention and being an only dog and we'd never do anything to upset her. We plan to keep checking your site and when the time comes, (hopefully not too soon because we love our dog baby) we'll DEFINITELY be in touch!

Sue, I'd love to talk to you when the time is right. Terry

Hi Terry
We are a danish family - my husbond and I, and our two girls - living i NJ. We moved to US in January 2006, because of my husbonds work. We are very interested in getting a beagle, as one of my friends back in Denmark, had a beagle, and her dog is such a wonderful family dog.

For some time now I have reseached on the Internet, to get to know how to buy a puppy her in US. And to day I found your website. What a relief :-) I would really prefer not to have a puppy shipped 1000 of miles. That can not be a good experience for a small puppy - just taken away from its mother and sieblings.

At your site I found all the information I could ever want. It has been very helpful, and I really hope that we can talk some day in phone, and arrange a visit at our house.

I just love all the photos of the beautiful dogs. I can't wait to show the photos to my daughter, when she returns from middle school.

Thank you for all the information you and all the people share here on your site,
Charlotte

Hi Charlotte, It was great speaking with you on the phone. Terry

Terry,

We loved seeing your place. Your care and comittment are evident. It's been terrific keeping up with the website and seeing Belle's puppies chosen/named. The girls are very excitied waiting for Cami's puppies to get ready to go. They already have their name picked out and can't wait. Thank you for posting all the pictures.

Joe, Christine, Keara and Caitlyn

Hi Joe, Christine, Keara and Caitlyn.... It was all my pleasure. I'm glad you came out to visit and I got to meet the entire family. The puppies are getting so BIG! I will post more photos of them this week, so keep your eyes peeled to the stork page.

Thanks, Terry

I want to buy a Beagle for my boys 5 & 8. I have read about Beagles. But still don't know where to go to get one for them for Christmas.

Please help.

PS. love your site.

Stella, I would definitely do a search on the internet. Type in Beagle breeders in, and add your state. This should help.

I find myself looking at your website every day to see the dogs and the new puppies. My fiancé and I are looking to get a beagle as we both love the breed, however we haven't put in an application in yet. We are getting married in the spring and plan to go away for our honeymoon and figured it is unfair to a dog to bring him with us or leave him with family when he's so young. We've both grown up with dogs and can't wait to have one together. I hope you keep the Happy Birthday page going as we love to see the puppies grow up with their family.

Hi Sara,
I'm so happy that you are enjoying my website. When and if you are ever ready for a puppy I'd be happy to speak with you. Terry

What a great site and such beautiful dogs - I've learned so much already just visiting the site, Terry!

Hopefully, Cami has had her puppies today (10/6) and all is well, I've been following her Stork Story and loved every minute of it.

Keep up the wonderful work. And thanks again for an informative and fun beagle site.

Hi Kathy, I'm glad you're enjoying our website and have been able to walk away with a lot of good information.... Yes, Cami did have her puppies. Four beautiful little pups.

Enjoy, Terry

I have 2 beagles both are from my uncle who breeds them to hunt. they both are a dark brown with a medium red, they have white legs with medium red spots down their legs. i am wondering what they would be considered. neither of them have any black on them at all. some say they are red tick beagles but i did not know that was a certain beagle. i can not find any other beagles that they look like anywhere. both mother and father are tri-colored beagles. do you have a clue as to what they are.

Rachael,
It sound like the answer you got is correct. Red ticked is what I would call them too. Terry

I am one of those who believe that the beagle has the best of disposition of all the wonderful breed of dogs in this universe. They certainly deserve this site you have dedicated for them. The 3rd beagle in my life, Victoria, passed away last month at 11 years and a half due to tumor in the lungs.I still cry everyday mourning for her.Hopefully, someday, maybe one of your puppies eased the loss of the dearest, sweetest beagle angel I ever had in my life.

Oh Rudy, I'm so sorry to hear about you losing Victoria. It's very sad when you love them that much. I understand how you feel. I was wondering how old a beagle should be before they can be bred?Everyone seems to have opinions about the age so I am asking an expert. I am not breeding my beagle, but I met someone who is breeding their 1 yer old beagle(female)and I was kind of shocked at the age. Please tell me what you think. Thankyou for your time Liz In Nova Scotia

Hi Liz, Typically a dog shouldn't be bred during it's first heat cycle. Of course accidents do happen and for that reason a vet will encourage the owners to have their dog spayed by six months of age. This should ensure the dog will be fixed before she has a chance to go into her first heat cycle, which usually happens between 8 to 12 months of age. Terry

I just Loved your website, and it's in my favorites now. I was surprised to know that my Whisky could live to be very old as some babies on this website, the books all say an average of 11, but some here were 17 years old and more. All the better, more time to love him. I'll be coming back to check your site every once in a while. Good Luck.

Hi Josee, I'm glad you found us and you're enjoying our site. I look forward to you coming back.... Stop by our discussion forum too if you have the time. I'm sure all the members there would love chatting with you and hearing about Whisky.

My family and i adopted a puppy from the michigan humane society. We had no idea that we had a beagle. No one had ever seen a black and white with spots on her legs and belly area. But you have a picture of one. my oddball looks almost like that. we are having trouble with the biting when she plays with the kids. We have tried everything the vet said to do. she even gets puppy time out but nothing is working and i wondered if you might know of a way to get her past this one bad habbit thanks Kathy

Kathy, stop by our "Discussion Forum" where you'll find new puppy owners like yourself going through the same things. You'll find lots of people there willing to give you some tips on how they're dealing with puppy biting. Unfortunately it is one of the problems facing new puppy owners, but the good news is it will pass.

Good Morning! I found your web site yesterday and I love it! We recently lost our 9 year old beagle and are devastated. Your web site gave me some very important information about seizure disorder in beagles. Our dog was sick for two months and our vet. kept misdiagnosing his problem. First he thought it was a stomach problem, then he said it was a balance problem. He was treated finally for an inner ear infection and seemed to be doing great! Then he had what looked like a stroke or seizure and died. We were heart broken. He was a special Lemon beagle. I just wonder if the vet. had treated him for seizures he might still be with us! We hope to get another lemon beagle to join our two other beagles at home! We miss Charlie terribly! Thanks for the excellent information! Karen

Karen, I'm very sorry to hear about the loss of your beagle. It's really hard when we lose them. They become so much a part of our life. Please think about honoring his memory by adding his photo to our pet cemetery. It really does help with the grieving process.

My wife and I just adopted a one year old hunting beagle that was scheduled to be destroyed next week. We are in the process of housebreaking the dog and we already love him to death. His name is Mack. He has a slight ear infection but is otherwise very healthy. It was a lot of fun seeing how much fun and pride your owners have with their dogs. It is nice to be a part of a club. We all love beagles!!

Hey Terry, Your website always makes me smile. As Coopers mom(Annie and Willies pup from last year)You would be my only recommendation to someone looking for a beagle to love. FYI-If you have a puppy and want an easy way to house train. Hang a sleigh bell on the door nob to outside and ring the bell every time you take your pup out to go potty. Have him ring it too. with-in a month he`ll let you know its time to go out by ringing the bell. Just try it, you`ll be amazed. from Cooper,Peg, Frank and Sara.{{br}}Hi Peg, Thanks for stopping by my website, and a big thanks for your tip on house training a puppy.
